2. <flamebait> this forum is seems to dominated by intelligent agnostics/atheists so your not likely to find many people against abortion. </flamebait>

3. my opinion:: abortion is clearly a good thing, why on earth would anyone want a baby to be born when its not wanted?

Yeah, good question, why would they?

So why do they have them and then kill them?

Surely they should not have them in the first place?

Abortion is a positive thing. If you don't agree with it and find yourself in a situation where it is a possibility, don't do it. This is a case where nobody should be allowed to impose their morality on another.
Depends really on the situation but i like to think i would suppoertive as posiible with what ever choice is made she is the one that is most at risk both phyically and emotionally with what she feels is best thong to do..my thoughts on abortion may not really be the right one but how i feel on this..

Don't you see that when you have an abortion you impose your morality on the unborn child?

I think the unborn child is most at risk.

I don't agree with abortion unless the woman's life is at risk. However I don't think anyone should assume a moral highground. You can't impose your own morality on someone else. Therefore, I think it should be a woman's right to choose what to do with her own body. And there would be unsafe abortions if it was illegalised.

when do you believe sperm + egg becomes an unborn child?

Even if I didn't agree with abortion at all (I agree with it in some circumstances but that's irrelevant to this point) I'd much rather it stayed legal

If it's illegal people will try and get backstreet abortions which aren't done with the proper cleanliness and hygiene in mind as well as other things and aren't very safe and so people die
I don't agree with abortion whatsoever, I reckon it should be done in certain places and limit the abortion clinics.

Has anyone read Freakonomics?

It's very interesting that higher abortion rates lead to lower crime rates.

If you don't agree with it, why are you saying where you think it should be done.

I think that there are many situations where abortion may be the best option. I feel for the women who have to go through with it and who have to make the hard decision and go ahead with the operation.
I was saying I don't agree, but in other views they should limit the actual clinics so they're pretty rare to come by!

that actually makes sense... doesn't seem unlikely that children who aren't wanted by their parents (or whose parents can't deal with the burden of a child) would turn to crime

I am pro-abortion. sounds a bit heartless, but I personally think that people place too much value on the life of an unborn child... I think the lives of those who mean something to other people and whose death would have a major impact on the lives of others are far more important than the life of an unborn child whose parents don't even want it or would be better off without it

Yeah so people have to resort to other "methods" of abortion...
Not a good idea
If young people weren't so irresponsible with sex then the world would become a better place.

I'm for abortion if the patient was raped, as long as the extermination of the zygote is at an early stage (i.e. before nerves are developed/other human organs which are not technically humans, but rather a bundle of cells with the potential to be humans).

If we think about it, a women passes an egg out every month, so potential life is wasted. It's just when the sperm and egg meet and the zygote then starts becoming more like a human that I disagree with abortion.

I know I may get slated for this, but I have little to no sympathy for a girl who agrees to unprotected sex, finds out they're pregnant, then just wants to get rid of the 'baby'/zygote.

Of course, I've never been that situation... However it is still the view that I hold.

EDIT: Oh, and if the mother's life is endangered: I have sympathy with that.

Of course they should, you soundbite-ridden pseudobrained idiot. It's the foundation of all civilised society.

I agree. If I don't agree with murder then I won't do it. But I shouldn't impose my morals on the rest of the world...:p:

We need morals in a society. Society cannot function with inconsistencies.

But you think it is OK to put the unborn at the obvious risk of abortion, and to impose your morals upon them too?
