No. What we're pissed off about is your constant viewing of the world through your own tinted lenses, unable to comprehend that other people may have a slightly different experience. Your world revolves around breeding. Many other people are not like you, and yet you insist on pushing your views upon them - "People shouldn't have an abortion in X circumstance". Resorting to posting pictures of your children on a public message board whilst debating abortion is ill-advised at best. It shows you have little substance to your argument. I dont see any pro-lifers with an ounce of credit posting up photographs of their offspring/siblings/nephiews. It distorts your position and reduces your credibility.

He has a point though - I'm not sure I'd call myself a 'boy'.

That said, most of the girls I know use 'boy' pretty indiscriminately for any persons of the male gender who aren't their close friends - usually with some sort of mild sexual undertones. "We went out the other night and the club was full of boys", etc., etc. I ascribe it to the growing asexuality of the word 'guys'...

What conveniently forget to mention is my reasons for neg-repping you, which I gave in the (signed, by the way) comment - I don't like it when people whinge about being neg-repped. It has nothing to do with your attitude towards abortion, which, until I looked back through the thread, I couldn't even remember...

It was not whinging, but merely showing my disapproval of those who neg-rep for trivial reasons. I am not going to let something pass if I disagree with it. I think I did mention that I didn't care about the neg-rep in my answer, did I not, thus responding to your reason for negging. It was the principle behind it which I show contempt and scorn towards. Now stop this talk of neg-repping, it's hardly relevant.

I have the feeling he's a lad, but an effeminate one.

I hate to be frightfully rude, but you don't seem to have replied to this yet. I know you're not the type to avoid well-made points, so I can only assume you simply missed it. Well, here it is again for your convenience.

Maybe people don'tthink "ah well I'll have an abortion" but I do think the knowledge that they CAN have an abortion makes people less concerned about having sex when they're not ready for children. In this thread most people responded to the question "what would you do if you got pregnant?" with "I'd abort it." Therefore, they're aware they're not ready to have children, they're aware there's a risk they or their gfs will get pregnant but they carry on because they know they can have an abortion if needs be:

OH NOES!! I MADE YOUR SKIN CRAWL!! You and the myth leader need to grow the hell up I'm afraid.

 I thought I'd conducted myself with the utmost of decorum. If you read your sentence I'm sure you could fathom the irony of your statement.

This is an INTERNET FORUM. It comes as part of the package that people are going to be far more abrupt than they would be in real life and care a hell of a lot less about offending you.

Very true. But forgive me if I want to limit the insults and reduce the bitter tone which you (and, to be fair, not just you) have contributed to.

If you don't want your views to be ripped apart, or receive negative rep for saying things other people find offensive, don't make them public.
I

Nobody has really ripped apart my views - since after page 30 or something I stopped my outflow of reasoning. I seem to be only defending personal jibes now.

am fully prepared for the conservative faction telling me I am an immoral, foolish liberal for advocating doing what the hell we all like as long as it causes no harm.

Conservative in what way? Anyways, are you sure? Because you seemed to go mental over a one-line statement I made a few pages before which seemed quite innocent.

I would never pretend to be shocked about having my left wing views insulted on TSR.

I am largely left-wing (unlike the current labour party). And I do now and again have to defend my views on labour.

Oh and ffs Myth Leader, earlier in this thread you accused Trigger of "looking for soundbites" rather than listening to your argument when she made a half joke that when backed into a corner, pro-lifers just scream "sex is wrong, sex is wrong", but you and Seoid have just admitted that you have extremely conservative views on sex and would seek to be authoritarian about when and where people should be allowed to have sex....choose a stance
.

I fail to see the contradiction in stances. Freedom for all and equality and liberty etc. etc. I support all that. Again, I'm largely a liberal lieft-winger. However you know fine well, since I commented a few pages back, that I support freedom as long as the freedom does not conflict with the freedom of others. I include, for various reasons throughout this thread, 'potential life as others'. You may see it as authoritarian; I see it as extending liberty to the 'potential life.' Perhaps that isn't worded well and sounds ridiculously hippy, however that's my view.

Either you are a trendy lefty and don't see a problem with people having sex as and when they choose, in which case, yes Trigger was just looking for soundbites, OR you are a bit right and uptight and think people should only be allowed to have sex when they're in a committed relationship
,

The problem is your very one-sided and just assume that those who don't agree with you are traditionalists. I support the use of drugs. That doesn't sound like the conservatives to me (if you ignore cameron and boris johnson).

anything else is frankly just horrid and degrading the brill moral fibres of our society,

Again you have different moral boundaries. You believe destroying a foetus is perfectly acceptable. You need to understand that many others disagree with you, and you should respect that. Many areas have been covered on this thread, but the fact is, whether you see killing that 'whatever you want to call it' that Xena posted is right or wrong is highly subjective. Of course the use of that photo is sensational and perhaps emotional-blackmail. However it is the truth. There is no harm in seeing the truth. Please try to understand why others have other views. Xena, Soid and myself (in my honest opinion) have been very understanding. We accept that you have different beliefs on morality. We acknowledge where your priorities lay. We know that this debate will never be resolved. We may still disagree with your views, but at least we've considered them.

teh ghey spat!

The interesting thing about all this is that I really don't care whether or not any of you think that my baby looks like a baby or not, or indeed whether you agree that it is or it isn't.

I didn't post the pictures to "add substance to my argument".

I am very capable of adding substance to my argument without posting pictures thanks.

I posted them because I'm proud of them - and I wanted to share the rather exciting news that I'm having a son.

It is interesting to see what both sides make to this though....the pro-lifers are very supportive and congratulate me, whereas the pro-choicers are largely very insulting and have to resort to accusing me of "revolving my world around breeding".
(which, by the way, is laughable....do you see 15 children swarming around me? Would you say that all women with 2 children revolve their life around breeding? How many of you are only children I wonder?)

Quite frankly the insults don't bother me one bit. It's fairly amusing to see how one set of people can be so nice, and another set of people can be so rude.

So sex should be reserved purely for reproduction?

Where the hell do you get off? You just accused me of making this personal and then you have the nerve to ask me that? How the hell do YOU know how well I knew the guy in question? As it happens, when the magical midnight transformation into an arsehole occurred, we had been together for the best part of a year, and were in a relationship which up til that point seemed serious and committed, not that it is ANY of your business. If that is "obviously not knowing someone very well" then I dread to think how long it would take to get to know them. Frankly I have my own views on people who are "virgins and proud of it at 18" but I would never have the audacity to make them public and act like I was the unquestionable authority, least of all without extreme provocation. Unless it were to affect you personally and directly, you have no right to tell people who they should have sex with, when, were, or whether it is irresponsible. If you genuinely think you have a right to be dictating the ins and outs (literally) of someone's personal life then I think you need a hobby.

Take your own advice Jenny:

Nope, sex should be engaged in by people mature enough to have a child if that happens (which if contraception is used properly is very unlikely).
