I lost my voice last year sometime, took around a week to get it back to normal, I suggest drinking hot blackcurrant juice with one sugar in it.
i actually don't think that excessive coughing would cause you to lose your voice

just have plenty of hot drinks --- and also --- did you ask your GP? maybe its just a mild infection

Might be laryingitis. My Mum has hardly had a voice since Thursday last week. Just have plenty of things with vitamin C in.

I'm not totally sure what caused it tbh, I had flu last Thursday - Monday and then on Monday evening I had a chesty cough and was coughing at lot and by Tuesday I had no voice and same today!

I may go to doctor - is it worth it? Nothing can give really?

hey, i posted about this a few days ago, i have had no voice since sat! Went to the drs yesterday and i have laryngitis after also having a cold. You're right that coughing definitely doesnt help..i was recommended to take an antihistamine, and also steam inhalation is supposed to help. Otheriwse it's just a matter of time unfortunately...im still waiting although slowly improving!
waaiitt - that sounds like me! -- i had a throat infection it turned out and was on antibiotics for about a week --- just contact your GP

Our doctor gave my mum nothing and said she'd have to ride it out. The best she could get was paracetamol.

I can get a broken, hoarse slow voice if I force myself to speak normally instead of whispering and now my parents think I'm ok!?!

I doubt I'll go back to college next week with no voice! (half term atm)

You'all think doctor should be seeing me?
i think you should coz thats what i could do as well - in the morning i couldnt really speak but then during the day, i forced myself and then could - but then the nrxt day the same thing happened again-- for 1 week ,,, then i went to the GP + he gave my some antibiotix abd it gradually went after one week
