in Offer: The institution regards you as overseas for fees purposes

Had a provisional offer from University of Kent for Business Administration with Computing. Now, I have been in the UK for 5 years since the age of 14, am British, have British parents and stated everthing correctly in the UCAS application including my country of origin (which was not the UK).

Looking more closely at the offer letter, I saw: "The institution regards you as overseas for fees purposes". Called the Uni and they would not explain any more details, just said that they were sending a letter for more proof about my status and parents etc.

What is very annoying is that the didn't say anything about a letter being sent by snail-mail in the UCAS track, and they seem to have made their mind up already!

Thanx for the heads-up. had a look at the application - I had put fee payer LEA. Kent is the only offer that came back like this, the others were OK.

Kent Uni also want 300 points and excluded one A level while the others for similar courses want 260 no conditions and I can't tell if this is some sort of foreign student thing to want more points.

I will wait for that form but this has put me off Kent.

I don't see why they'd ask for more points from foreign students doing A-levels. Perhaps Kent just has higher entry requirements than the others. Which A-levels do you do and which was excluded?

Sounds like the standard Kent offer for a Business related degree, nothing to do with your 'perceived foreigness'.

Thanx Adthegreat for that, guess I will just fill the in forms that now arrrived. They want everything including the cat's birth certificate it looks like and the points must be the usual thing for Kent.
