Bring with you a small bottle opener and a lighter; even if you don't drink or smoke (disgusting) there's gonna be people who need a lighter and there will definitely be people that need a bottle opener! Can be bummer though cos people will be chasing you all night for it.

I usually just impress people with my manly sexual prowess and girly laughter!

Hopefully there'll be a few "banter-merchant" at the parties to get things going!

It's so much easier having a twin when going to a party because if it's rubbish, me and my bro just try to out booze each other! Waking up in the morning not knowing how I got home means I won.

I don't know why you'd find that useful unless you have a twin.

Most important thing is to go there to enjoy yourself, rather than talk to people/hit on girls. If you go there to talk to people, you'll be stuck to one person, and they'll try to scrape you off like **** on a shoe. If you go there to enjoy yourself people will see you having fun, and come to join in with you.

go up to people and talk...as a shy girl i used to hang around waiting for boys to approach me. If you see someone standing alone, talk to them, make them feel grateful for having someone to talk to. It also means you're not the shy one in the conversation and will give you more confidence as you may be making someone's day.

God bless people like you!

I still think you would onto a winner with a bottle opener!

I agree with the sugar rush thing. When I'm hyper at parties people think I'm drunk when I'm really not. I also get on with drunk people better when I'm hyper haha.

You have to relax. That is key. If you are uptight or thinking, "Right who can I talk to now" then you won't enjoy your night and good things always happen when you didn't set out for them too, which is always good

The only parties that deserve someone's attendance are the socialist parties.

Seriously though, pretend you are drunk, that way you can get with pretty much everything but you won't make something really stupid.

if you dont drink what is the point acting drunk or trying to recreate the effects by having a load of redbull

just drink or dont. But dont make it an arse of yourself pretending to be drunk, there is nothing more obvious

Reply 27

The point of acting drunk without actually drinking is that you can have just as much fun without going against whatever principle you have for not drinking.

I do it all the time its great  Noone has to know :p:

And I think you're thinking of people who say things like 'oooomg im like soooooo wasted' when they're clearly not. This is more of a mentality thing - you're making a conscious decision to loosen up and not be so careful to do things you wouldnt normally do. You will smile more, be more relaxed around people, laugh at everything and generally be a lot more friendly.

But my point is, if your morally against drinking or being drunk. What is the point acting drunk it just sounds so stupid.

Also it will deffinatly be obvious no matter if you think its not

Ditto to the social lube comment. Nothing like a pint of beer/glass of wine to loosen up your social side.

Personally I find alcohol makes me more sociable, but deprives me of anything interesting to say.

I'd love to have a decent conversation about the things I am interested in, but when I've had a few details go out of the window.

Drinking is a good plan generally because you'll generally come across as more chilled out. Noone likes to chat randomly with someone who is calculating a logical retort to their every throwaway drunk comment.

I dont understand the whole wanting to get drunk thing anyways but surely u want to at least be able to say something intelligent and not do anything too stupid? I'd say don't drink especially if u find it hard enough to talk to people anyway, as you will be worried about being dumb as well....
Plus i don't like alcohol...

Someone once told me that you had to be at least 50% as innebriated as the social alpha of the party, otherwise you'd never get into the same mood. Through experience I think he's probably right.

It doesn't really work like that, from my experience.
Just a drink or two relax you and you stop worrying about sounding like an idiot (which you wouldn't have anyway but if you're nervous you convince yourself you would) and you're just more willing to walk up and say hi to someone.
This works drunk or not, but a drink takes the edge off and makes you more able to convince yourself noone is going to mind if you start a conversation with them.
