Halls - is Birchen mainly for returners?

Hey
I just got my accommodation allocation - yay!

I am in birchen. But I was looking up stuff about it and it seems to be a hall mainly for students returning to halls in second year.

Is this true?
If it is, will they try and group first years in to one flat and second years in another, or will it be mixed?

I'm just a bit anxious that I will be in a flat with a lot of returners who have already made friends

Thanks!

Hi!
I'm a first year and I've been allocated accommodation in Birchen too - apartment A2. I was wondering the same thing, at least we know there will be 2 of us!
What are you studying?

They try to group first years together or returners together rather than mixing them and most of the time It'll work out like that, especially in Endcliffe.

I wouldn't really worry about the social effects of being mixed in with returners, a lot will do so in order to live with new people so they'll want to socialise almost as much as you. There's also the bonus that they know their way around and will likely bring you to parties, introduce you to their friends, etc.
