Behind everyone's back.....

I have just started university, and although it has been a great experience, I am starting to worry about a certain character trait that I am picking up. It appears to be the norm to be bitchy in my university.

I'm usually a very easy going person. Unfortunately, after hearing everyone talking behind everyones backs since September, I have just recently started to do the same. I'm not like this at all when I am back home, or when I was in school. I know it's immature and wrong, but I just seem to blurt it out, unwittingly. I feel terrible as soon as I finish my sentence.

Is there any way of getting rid of the bitchiness from my friends, and I. Some people might say for me to find new friends, but it's not quite that easy. It seems to be rampant in my halls too. I just feel it doesn't help in forming true friendships when everyone is either bitching about someone else, or judging people all the time. Any help is much appreciated.

Avoid the topics that involve bitching. ie don't talk about other people!

Well that's great advice, but I can't help it, and I don't know why I do it really. I know that people often change to suit the environment that they are in, but I just don't want to turn into this type of person.

I wasn't expecting much of a response to be quite honest, I suppose it's more of a rant than anything.

if this is the worst of your problems think yourself lucky. theres no magic cure fro not being a bitch. you either carry on or, use your brain and think before you speak.

It's true. I'd take the above advice.
