argh why must he be sooo.. dumb!
i know this guy and im sure he likes me but is just too shy. no offense to anyone here but he is a bit of a geek too and has never had a gf. today i tried to hint in every possible way that he ask for my number but he did nothing! whenever im not online he sends me messages asking where i am, saying he has been waiting for ages but he doesnt seem to get my hints!!! what am i to do??? ask for his first? well i have considered that but he is so proud and unromantic he may think im running after him. come to think of it he is messed up in the head altogether but i still adore him! someone tell me wat to do.

You are going to have to be blunt with him and ask him yourself, even if he knows you like him he may not have the courage to ask you out despite probably really liking you.

I basically knew this girl would say yes, but I still didn't ask out of fear of rejection. 2 years later and we talked over MSN and admittied we liked each other. She didn't ask me out because she felt wrong because she was the girl.

Give up on him. This girl I knew since primary school always knew I liked her and she even made moves on me, yet I still shyed away. I never works when there's a shy person involved.

@ OP: As a representetive of the shy geeky genre that you describe, I would say you definitely need to be obvious. As p_scrub says, some guys just don't like to gamble; so I would say, go for it and have a great time!

If you know someone is shy, it's best to take the lead and ask first, lol.
forgot to add, shy people will almost never risk something like this (not like them/us), hence you're not going anywhere unless you tell him how you feel.

Give him some time for chrissakes...I think mentioning 'love' and 'relationships' to any guy 2 mins after they've asked you out would make them run a mile!! Just go out with him, don't mention the 'l' word or the 'r' word and take things as they come.
Get blind drunk and seduce him. Yeah.
