Do I need a powerful laptop for Chemical Engineering?

Need a laptop for uni and I can't decide between the cheapest Dell XPS 13 model and the ASUS zenbook.

Would I need the extra CPU power the XPS 13 provides to run software used during the course, or would my money be better spent elsewhere?

The XPS is around £200 more expensive so I feel I would only get it if it would make running programs needed for the course a great deal easier/faster.

What course are you doing?
budget and needs?
nope

You can run Office and/or similar programs on the weakest of hardware, and in all honesty that is was you will be using most frequently.

If you ever find there's a program that
a) you have access to the installation files for, and
b) doesn't run very well on your laptop
you should have easy access to suitable computers in your department.
