Pathetic

This is stupid but i've been best friends with this girl for about 4 years and we're soo close, talk every night for hours see eachother every day every weekend every holiday day etc.. anyway she's going away for a month in the summer and i can't stop thinkin about how much i'm going to miss her and worrying about how she might meet new friends and they could replace me etc. We have alot to look forward together before she goes (going on hol in the easter and hopefully summer and random shoppin trips etc) but it's getting me down and making me act cold towards her.
Please help :frown:

if you've been best friends for so long, sounds like you have a pretty solid friendship - and the fact that she's going away for a month might make you sad, but spending one month with complete strangers who are never going to replace someone who's been in their life for 4 years, is just something you shouldn't be worrying about...

It's inevitable she'll meet new people and form new friendships, but that doesn't mean she'll forget about you. If you're as close as you say you are, you clearly have a special relationship and I'm sure it'll carry on whatever. You just have to try not to let her absence get to you too much, stay in contact and let her know that you'll always be there for her, no matter what.

Yeah she said she would call me every day. I hope she does. I want to be happy for her aswell and feel bad that when she talks about it I get sad, so selfish of me.

I can understand this, i miss my best friend a lot now she's away at Uni.

I just have to remember that i want her to be happy and settled and make sure i talk to her when i feel down.

Well I'm at uni now and I've made several very good friendships and I've also met my beloved boyfriend - but that does not replace my close friends from home. Like, I have this girl-best-friend back home who's 2 years younger than me, so she's still at 6th form atm, and we're as close as we ever were before I left for uni whenever we chat or meet up. She's a special girl and she cannot be replaced.

So basically, don't worry, you won't be replaced. You CAN'T be replaced. Be secure in your friendship and be assured that she is your friend and you are hers :smile:
