I've always wanted to go to a russell group, but after results day I feel as if I have ruined my chances. In total I got 6a's and 4b's at GCSEs. I'm going into sixth form next month, and I have chosen History, Politics, Economics and maths. Could you please tell me the truth?

they are fine, bearing in mind the national average is like 5 C's you should focus on your AS levels, they will determine what UNI you go to, trust me...

The truth is that those GCSE grades are by no means great. The truth also is that it depends on what course you want to do. For example , economics is going to be a lot more competitive than classics... Your A level choices seem like you're interested in PPE? I might be completely wrong? Remember Russell Group Unis aren't the only unis , and I'm sure you could get into one but that completely depends on which one , what you want to do , and how hard you're going to work next year. Not going to lie though , RG unis are competitive...

Obviously they are fine, you just need to do really well in your A levels.

Here's the brutal truth: GCSE's are a kiddy qualification and count for squat.

If your A-levels are banging, and your personal statement is ripe with intelligence and drive, then RG's will give you an offer over someone with perfect GCSE's. Admission officers aren't stupid, they realise that some people develop later.

    I'm at a Russel Group and my GCSE's were: 1 A*, 2 A's, 11 B's and 1 C.

My friend, whom I went through school with, and am now on the same course at the same uni, collected all B's and C's at GCSE.

Now stop obsessing and read some damn books.
