    Hey all,

A month or two back I posted a thread highlighting how I hated squatting, how unbalanced it felt, how low weight I was lifting (just the bar); It was just pretty **** in general.

Thanks to you lot I sucked it up: lifting some weight and doing some research.

Turns out, my lack of balance came from resting the bar in a high-bar position on my upper back, but breaking at the hips in low-bar fashion (thus tipping the center of weight in front of my core).

Now I've adopted low-bar squats, currently 80kg, 5x5, three times per week! I love them!

    Thank you all again!

I bought a pair of weightlifting shoes which have wider soles and raised heels and they helped me a lot. I can do bodyweight squats in them - something I can't usually do. I think I have a problem with my left ankle which causes balace problems.
