Hello! If anyone who studies mental health nursing or knows someone who does, can help me- that would be great!

I know during the degree we all do a common foundation year to make sure all branches are up to the same level of basic skill etc. I just wonder, as mental health branch, how much will we learn throughout the course in terms of physical skills?

A nurse I work with told me that she thinks mental health students don't currently learn as much as other branches in the way of clinical skills after the first year. Is that true?

    Hey
I ve been doing a bit of googling on it myself and from talking to mh student nurses. I think to an extent it's a little true, however every student nurse has to be able to meet the all nurses compentcies with physical health so I recon we ll still have to do quite a few clinical skills just not quite to the extent as other fields as we learn the psychological stuff instead.

I found one unis mental health nursing skills log so I presume every clinical skill on there we ll be able to do.

You'll do a lot more IM injections than your colleagues studying other branches
