    Hi guys

I go to a normal comprehensive and I was predicted all B's for gcse but I managed to pull out these grades for gcse

    Additional science- A
    Business studies- A
    Citizenship- B
    Core science- A
    English language- A
    English literature- A*
    Geography- A
    Maths- A
    Philosophy and ethics- A* (SOMEHOW!!)
    P.E- A*
    Spanish-B

    In summary-
    3A* 6A 2B

I was so pleased and relived with my results.
How would you say they compared to the average grammar school students result and would my gcse results hinder my chances of getting into any universities.

P.S. I will be studying Maths, Economics, Business studies and English literature at A-Level

I'm an expat living in the Gulf and i go to one of the best British schools in the country (small country to be fair haha) and your results top more than half of the results that I've heard from my classmates. we do IGCSEs so I'm not sure if that makes a difference..
so, no they won't hinder your chances of getting into uni, just study hard for your A Levels and you'll be fine

i think i heard somewhere that oxbridge require at least 4A*s but correct if I'm wrong, other than that, well done

Your results are great - well done! With those you could probably apply to pretty much any university except Oxford, who tend to expect quite a few A*s. (Although that being said, a friend of mine got an Oxford interview with similar GCSE results to yours, although she didn't get an offer. She applied for French and Classics from a school that doesn't offer Latin or Classics and self-taught Classics though, so she was an unusual applicant).

On an entirely unrelated note, Business Studies is considered a 'weak' subject by Russell Group universities, so it may be worth swapping that for a 'stronger' subject if that's where you're aiming?
