Hi everyone, so I'm thinking of applying to do English at Durham this year and given how stiff the competition is I'm just a little worried that Drama, one of my A2s, apparently has a bit of a 'rep' as a soft subject, and I'm wondering if there's anyone at Durham who also applied for English with A-Level Drama or if anyone has any information on the university's 'non-preferred' A-Levels.

If it helps, my AS results came back as AAABC, with the As in English Lit (97% UMS), Maths, and Drama, the B in Further Maths (self-taught) and the C in Classical Civilisation, which (until results day) I'd planned on taking to A2, but a lot of people in my class (myself included) didn't do as well as we expected to do and we're doing some mass re-marking. Also, at GCSE I got 3A*s and 8As, which is pretty great coming from a coasting-comprehensive-turned-academy, so I don't want doing Drama next year to harm my chances of getting an offer.

    Thanks for all your help!

If you're taking 4 A2s and get the 3 grades you need (e.g. A*AA) in the other three then Drama won't really matter. Tbh I think Duz probably wouldn't consider it a bad subject anyway if you were applying to do a humanities course, as the Drama scene at Duz is pretty vibrant!
Who do you think it's more helpful to talk about mental health with?
