You don't revise history, history revises you.

I write nice notes throughout the year and come exam time I talk to my dog (I swear I'm not crazy) trying to condense the notes and make it easier to understand. Works fairly well

The end of term tests are there to prepare you for sure and making flash cards as you go along the year will prove helpful as it's condenses material into your hands.
They also help for when trying to remember things instead of reading the textbook the night before ( totally what I did lol) and a better understanding of the subject.
Past papers should be done when you are confident that you know that most of the content is taught.
ALSO IF POSSIBLE LOOK AT THE SECIFICATION WHEN REVISING SO YOU DONT GET ANY NASTY SURPRISES IN THE EXAM (challenge the teacher with it, they are your best resources after all)
Aww good luck for what the year brings you and if you need any help I'm only a few taps away so feel free to ask during the year if you feel you have to. x
