Member of the Month - August 2015

I have decided to resurrect this monthly feature to recognise member's contributions.

Please nominate anyone you feel deserves recognition as our Member of the Month.

PM me your nominations by 10pm on Friday 28th.
We'll then proceed with a 4 day vote, with results being revealed on the 2nd September.

To keep nominations fair, you unfortunately can't nominate yourself!

Good luck to all who enter!

More seriously, Nigel Farage MEP, for, as always, being a fine and upstanding gentleman, who's arguments are always a pleasure to read and then on top of that that he seems to have done half the work of the government despite all the shambles.

I'd like to nominate RayApparently for being ready to act, reliable and snatching a few Green MPs.

This isn't particularly specific to this month but I think mobbsy91 should get some recognition for being a damn good barman (barnetlad had some big shoes to fill) and keeping me nice and numb during a stressful couple of months in the House!

James Milibanter too deserves a nomination, after only a few days in Labour he's injected some life into our economic policy and looks to be a great asset after being kicked out of his own party no less.

Why thank you. I was going to nominate you actually - for some of the best put downs I've ever had the pleasure of reading in this House. I don't think there's another member that's made me think: "Damn, I wish I said/wrote that!" more often! (this one came to mind - one of many)

Perhaps you Tories have been in Opposition too long? You've gotten very good at opposing.

This is difficult but I have a few people in mind, choosing who is the difficult part, this should become a regular feature. I am flattered by the thought but a failed government, a terrible budget, one bill, and missing a debate on a bill.

In your defence, could you have done much to prevent the collapsing of the government? While the budget was awful you still took the initiative, along with others, to actually try to do something rather than sitting back and doing nothing, and missing a debate is nothing when most people miss all of them, at least in terms of getting involved.

    Wow, thanks!

I'd like to nominate TheDefiniteArticle for what I've seen from him whilst in the socialists and for the brilliant bill he wrote not too long ago.

I'd agree with others. Could argue you're just the shining light in a failing team (government) but I think your history on here shows you get stuck in and take initiative so you'd probably have my vote.
Agree that Ray could be up there, too. And Saracen's Fez just for how he conducts himself even with all the brouhaha that's embroiled the House.

Naturally I'd nominate myself, my intelligence gathering and feeding of information to LP during the coalition negotiations was substantive and within the game I even impressed myself with my efforts, I suppose I did fail in the end goal though.

As the above is just my ego probably, I'll go for Ray due to the rampant opportunism displayed in recent days in buying green assets.. Almost Tory like (I'm remembering Labour leaders who viewed the left as one big hippy family that would never take advantage of one another).

From the party I'd also say that Jammy doesn't get the kudos he deserves from the House. He's always active, engaging and productive. Moreso than most

That's the cost of being a divisive figure.

You're the member of the flipping decade! Let someone else have a go, will you?

Either way, it was my understanding that these nominations are only for August and that happened in July.
