Hi everyone! What do you think about Harris Manchester College at Oxford?

I think you're more likely to get replies in this forum.
Harris Manchester is a college for mature students, it's pretty small and it's quite close to the English and the law faculty. It usually comes lowest in the Norrington Table, but that table's pretty rubbish anyway.

Edit: or this forum. Whatever.

In future, post reports are handy things

I was considering that, actually but then thought it might be easier just to redirect him/her...

Oh, could have been worse. You could have just posted "Mods, move this thread!" and expected us to appear at the mere mention of our title

You mean you don't?

Damn, there goes that theory...

Well I'm sure there are one or two who are paranoid enough to go searching for their name everytime they come on the forum!

Anyway, ahem, Harris Manchester anyone?

hi!

im planning to apply for a masters in social anthropology and after a little exploration of the oxford website, found that 8 colleges offer my subject:

Harris Manchester, Hertford, Keble, Magdalen, St Hilda's. St Hugh's, St John's and St Peter's...

went through the websites of each of these colleges but it's quite hard to get a sense of the personality of a college from just that...

so i was hoping to find out a little more abt harris manchester and hopefully my other 7 options on this forum...what are the colleges known for? are their any stereotypes associated with each one? you know that kind of thing...

would greatly appreciate any responses!!

thanks in advance

Hi

Are there any other current or future Harris Manchester students?

I got in for 2008 and would love to chat to anyone else from the college.

Wow, my eyes nearly fell out of my head when I saw that someone had posted in the HMC thread, haha!

I've been accepted for 2008 as well (to study English). How about you? And are you going up for the open day in May?

Ha!

Yes this thread has been woefully underused.
I got in for PPE.
You are doing English? Didn't English and the PPEists have their inteviews at around the same time, Dec 3-5? Perhaps I saw you there...

And I shall be going to the open day in May (I just got that accomodation letter).

Aye.. my interview at HMC was on the 5th, I think. I had interviews at Keble the day before, so I wasn't around Harris Manchester much.

Good good - I've just persuaded my other half to come along and visit on the Open Day as well (not that it took much persuasion, haha) so I will definitely be there too.

Yay.

Well, I shall see you there. I expect it shall be very useful and consequently rather dull.

I'm glad I know someone there now (even if it is only virtually)

I'm coming up to HMC too.... but not until 2009 (I got a deferment).

I'm doing my Ph.D. at Melbourne Uni then coming to Oxf for a 2nd BA in Law. I'm sure we'll have a rocking time at college.

shame - you just missed Joe Roff, think he leaves at the end of the year.

Hey Aussie Aussie Aussie,

I shall see you next year I hope.
I hope the PhD is going well.

Hi everyone,

Just wandering if anyone here has any experience of Law interviews at Harris Manchester...what kind of format it usually takes and what questions are being asked...
