Meeting people online

OK

Bit of an odd situation.
Set up a joke ad on our uni's dating website (specifying that i was only looking for friendship since i am in a relationship)
got loads of replies from guys anyway. a few of whom i've been chatting to on MSN, including one guy who's working in the faculty where i hang out quite a lot with my bf and friends.
now i've seen him there in the distance a couple of times and we've not said hello yet but are bound to actually talk to each other sooner or later.

Question is: whenever i'm there I'm with friends, so how do i actually introduce him to them/explain how i know this random guy? or do i avoid the issue and just ignore him? they know that i've met people through TSR, so i could say he was from there, but it might backfire... maybe i just tell them the truth, but that might embarrass the guy in question.

Truth is always good in the long run.

'Oh, I know him through some people'
Nice and vague :p:

I met my boyfriend through an online dating site. I told my mum and grandma that I met him in the pub. Easy, and they don't worry about me.

"I met him on the internet."

whoops there went my anon

ah well
thing is i've already hinted that i met someone "from online" who works there, so i just hope they dont ask any further questions about where exactly. maybe i'll just tell him to go along with the "from a forum" story
