I had it quite badly for about 18 months following a traumatic life event, except more than my hair I used to pull my eyelashes out! It looked quite weird after a while. I still get the urge when I'm stressed, and I still twiddle my hair a lot, but I would say I've mostly beaten it, so it can be done

Trichosoc? Makes it sound like a pokémon.

I don't know much about trichotillomania. Nor do I know why it's such a bloody silly word. Time to do some wiki-ing.

Not sure whether it's related, but I get the urge to scratch my scalp, trying to remove anything that's slightly loose :s-smilie: Mainly when I'm stressed or really tired.

I pull/pulled my eyelashes out too. Never the hair on my haid, but my eyelashes out. I don't do it as badly now but I do a bit.

Ditto for the eyelash thing but I've never labeled myself with trichotillomania. Seems stupid to me, there may be many reasons you do it but at the end of the day it's a habit and habits can be broken.

I always do it with my eyebrows, does that count?

oh i do that... pretty much constantly, and i know people notice, so it's bad. does anyone know what it's called? Or if it's related to trichotillomania?

ha! wow I never knew these things had names. whenever I'm stressed I attack my eyebrows and throw my hair around, pulling out all the loose strands. I usually end up looking a bit mental  vanity stops me at the eyelashes. I want something to put mascara onto! what a name, though!

I pull other peoples hair if they are annoying does that make me a trichotillomaniac?

Reply 15

I've never heard of this.

You learn something new every day.

Reply 16

I've had this for 5 years :frown: It's so annoying.

Reply 17

I never knew such a thing existed. And now I think I have it.
I have lots of stray hairs that stick out on my head and i pull them out 'cause I hate having them stick out.

Reply 18

I'd be interested. Had it for 10 years.
