Ok 2 options
1) Lose weight. Find a strict diet that you can follow. Be patient.
2) Become happy with your body. Maybe try going to a nudist beach?

well, there is no way that being a size 12 equates to being 'fat' I am a size 10/12 and I'm not fat! If your arms are so so red then go to the doctors but i bet if you wore a tshirt nobody would even notice - except for you  I suggest you join a gym as it will build your confidence up and you will feel really good afterwards - also you will see a lot of women who look 10x worse than you, so if they can do it.........

yes i agree, you are definately not fat! Don't put yourself down all the time, try to find things you like about you, focus on your good qualities. Remember you don't think things about other people, you wouldn't notice if their skin was red so they won't notice you

The redness on your arms sounds like it could be a condition called Keratosis Pilaris Rubra, which is really common (most poeple who have it get it on their face :| ), and while I agree that it's not the most beautiful sight in the world (I have straightforward KP), I've come to realise that it doesn't seem to bother anyone other than me. As for you being a size 12, I asked around (for the sake of this thread) and every guy I asked said he'd prefer a size 12 girl to a size 8 one. However, if you want to lose weight and tone up then no one is going to think of you as shallow for wanting to do so. Start out easy, maybe give up something like chocolate for Lent (the next 40 days) and carry on if you want to afterwards.

You've got to stop caring about what people think. I used to be pretty self concious, but people have better things to do than say 'oh look at her blah blah blah'.

Size 12 is not fat. However if you want to lose weight, I would suggest you try a programme of healthy eating and exercise. Both are important if you want to lose weight healthily and maintain it. The good thing about exercise is not only is it good for you, but it gives you a sense of achievement, and if you lose some weight and achieve some goals your self esteem may improve. As for the redness on your arms, I'm not sure what that could be, but you could try applying some corrector makeup if it's really bad. It's green and balances out the red. I'd also like to point out that you probably wouldn't be the happiest person alive if you were really thin because a) you probably wouldn't be very healthy, especially if you took it to extremes and b) I think you'd still be unhappy because of your lack of self esteem. Lose some weight if you think it's going to make you happier and healthier, but make sure you do so sensibly  I also think you need to work on your self esteem. Why don't you write down a list of your positive qualities and/or physical features? There's more to life than being skinny and beautiful, and as much as it's a cliche, beauty really is skin deep. Like others have said, focus on the good things about you.

Size 12 is below national average, enit?

But seriously if you feel you need to change then just go for healthy eating NOT diets, and regular exercise. This will ensure your body's healthy.

As with self esteem, I have terrible issues there. But I just go for, "I am who I am, some people like me for it, if others don't then f&£( them!". Works quite well.

Firstly i have very low self esteem - am a size 12, 5ft7, 12 stone and feel (and look) REALLY fat.
Secondly my skin is really red, especially on my upper arms (it's not eczema/sore/flaky) just bright red so i don't wear tshirts because i feel too self consious.
Thirdly i'm convinced that if i lost weight and was really thin i'd be the happiest person alive and that's a really shallow way to think.
*sigh* :frown:

Aww as a male I'd say size 12 is a perfectly "fit" weight.. infact close enough a "perfect" size.. enough to hold and cuddle.. Anything less then like an 8 can sometimes be quite sickening (depending on the individual).

As for your skin..I would not say it was unattractive! Fake tans are a put off.. lol.

Try to concentrate on your positive characteristics. Am sure your a beautiful person inside/out and you just gotta remember that..!

Skinny girls look better with their clothes on, size 12 curvers are much better when the clothes off, in my opinion

size 12 at 5'7?! that's not fat! Rachel hunter is a size 12 and only a couple of inches taller than you...i'd like to see anyone call her fat!

just, well, get over it i guess. Join a gym and have fun with life. You wouldn't be any happier if you were thinner, you'd probably hate yourself just as much; it's really not a weight issue, it's a self-absorbed issue. Stop focusing on yourself so much and you'll have a better life!

I'm 5'8 and a size 12 and manage to have a perfectly happy life

I'm a size 12! I certainly hope people don't think I'm "really fat" :frown:

You have not mentioned anything in your post apart from your weight/looks. Is this the solitary reason for your low self-asteem?
You seem to think that if you woke up tomorrow morning a size 4 that suddenly your life's problems will suddenly vanish! You sound as though you are having confidence issues generally and you are hiding behind the fact that you don't look like a catwalk model.

I don't mean to be rude, but I've known people in the past who have used their "weight" as a reason for not having many friends/ boyfriends etc. People don't generally judge you on your looks, and if they do, they are probably some stuck-up moron with nothing better to talk about. I doubt that your weight is the reason behind your low self-asteem at all, you are blaming it because it's convenient.

Find the real reason why you are unhappy.

Isn't the bumpy red arms thing associated with a poor diet? You can improve your eating habbits and slim down if you want to, but I just can't see how changing your "shell" a little bit here and there will be the miraculous solution to all of your self-asteem problems. You are kidding yourself.

I apologise if i seem rude.

The average is a 16  (BTW i'm not saying that 16 is fat or whatever before anyones my head off i'm just shocked that 16 is average!! I mean, seriously :s-smilie:)

I'm 5'10 so a bit taller than you. I change between an 8 (9 st) and a 12 (11stone) alot. I feel alot healther when i'm a 12 than an 8. Though i'm 8 at the moment cause i havent been too happy recently so the weight falls off me. But i find it hard to sleep because i'm so uncomfortable. I feel i look alot better in clothes though so its a no win situation!
