there's this girl in my class (and we're quite a big class) I barely know and the only true conversation I ever held with her was on the first day of university...
She appears to be outgoing, however she's always in her own established clique, whereas I'm a socially active free-mover type ("everyone's friend");
All I know is that she's often around male friends (her clique) and she previously went to school with an ex-gf of mine (many, many years ago)...
I can make assumptions based on this, but I prefer to limit myself to what I observe.
Classes started after a longer break and she comes to me, hugging me looking really enthusiastic about seeing me (the way she holds me might make me assume that she wants something more... but knowing that she already has so many male friends...
Firstly, is this normal for a girl who doesn't regularly speak with me since months?
The strange thing is that the next day, when I'm walking around with my friends and we encounter her with her friends, she literally looks away.

No, nah, I probably just misinterpreted a random movement!
Why am I suddenly worrying about her? lol
The day after, I meet her at the bus stand, with another female friend.
I say:"Hi everyone!"
The friend like looks at me in a disinterested manner and announces a passive "Hi..."
She doesn't even look at me.
Usually I'm a bit more spontaneous and would have instantly asked her
"Hey, girl, is everything okay?" but these days I was having other personal issues so I preferred to come online and ask here for a neutral point of view rather than make my own assumptions.

No... the point is I have never actually flirted with her either.
As I said, I barely know her. I have looked at her only as a classmate, an acquaintance, nothing more.

why did she hug you? just for no reason? sounds weird 
maybe someone told her that you like her, and shes playing with you? anyway, if shes ignoring you deliberately then you should ask her why. if she hasnt got a satisfactory answer just put her out of your mind and dont bother with her

Strange. It does sound as if she's annoyed with you - ask her! Or she might just have been in a bad mood, and over-excited when she hugged you. Girls are strange and complex entities.
