Finance for people on Universal Credit

Hello there,

I have been unemployed for 18 months and I am in receipt of Universal Credit. I was an English Teacher (with QTS) but left the profession because of ill health.

I am currently in the last stages of an Open University course (to date I have paid for each module myself) but I cannot afford to pay for this year's course. I want to apply for financial support from Student Finance England but, because I already have QTS, I am not allowed to pursue the application.

Is there any way I can get support, based on the fact that I am currently unemployed?

Any advice would be gratetfully received.

Hi,

Unfortunately, if you already hold a degree level qualification SFE are unable to fund you for another degree. This is regardless of whether you are claiming Universal Credit.
