I think it's not only jealousy of sports cars themselves, but the entire person too. So if you can afford a really expensive car, chances are you'll have quite a nice phone and all the rest of it.
At least as the Hollywood movie industry would have it, sports cars are massive magnets for picking up women.
I'm sure it does work in real life, but be wary of gold diggers.
