Police want to inject teen (17) to force an erection and take pictures for evidence.

This story is about a year old, but I think it's worth emphasising to show just how far society can go when it comes to pathologising masculinity and male sexuality.

The boy (17 years old) is facing punishment after sexting his girlfriend (15 years old). The 'sext' sent from the boyfriend was in response to a 'sext' sent by the girl. Police have already taken photographs of his genitals against his will. They want to force an erection, by injection, to compare and contrast with the 'sext' (to 'prove' his guilt).

No woman in a western society would ever be treated like this.

oh for god's sake, they should just lower the age of consent and stop looking through victorian-goggles seeing as these two were happily sexting like this with obvious consent (it was "in response to" a sext from the girl, after all)

Exactly. This story is ridiculous.

From what I can see, he is being charged with the crime of 'sexting' rather than anything related to paedophilia. The legal age of consent in Virginia is 18. It begs the question why she isn't being charged.

yes but the age of consent is obviously the foundation of the anti-sexting law. the justice system is horrifically sexist towards men with regards to sex though - we all know it.
they should just bring down the age of pornographic acting/photography along with the age of consent as well if it is going to cause contradictions - if somebody is 16 (age of consent) and has a video camera, why can't they consent to themselves being filmed or photographed with it (porn)? I'm going off on a tangent here but that's another pointless law that has come to mind
