Lack of Motivation...

Hi,

I have a problem which I suffered since the start of this semester. Last semester I had almost perfect attendance. Almost perfect of course because everyone gets "ill" occasionally after a night out and an early seminar

I achieved reasonable grades for my first year with a 2:1 in all modules. However for some reason this semester I seem to lack the motivation to go in at all :/ I have attended 6/12 Seminars and seem to be leaving Lectures half way through them. I just get bored. One possible reason for this is that Seminars/Lectures didn't really help me in the first Semester and all the work I done for exams/coursework was off my own back.

What can I do to get myself motivated? I have tried leaving only 15 minutes before my seminar/lecture so that I have less chance to turn back once I get there (once it hits the o'clock mark then I never turn back ) but even this at times is making me leave :s

I don't want the uni to pick up on my lack of attendence as I feel mildy embarressed by it. However I don't think that they will as our registers are not really registers just something where you write your name down, and then it just disappears.

I know that they are less likely to kick me off my course because of my grades for last semester and because all my coursework is in a week before due date, but I really want to turn up but I just can't seem to make myself :frown:

Any motivational techniques I can use?

I have a motivation problem with my a levels at the moment, and i spoke to someone about it and they said you have to work harder, I know thats tnot the answer you would have hoped for, but it does work, and i am slowly getting back on track.
So maybe just work hard on your work, and force yourself to stay and listen.
Hope that helps.

Don't you feel rude leaving halfway through a lecture? I get bored too but I wouldn't do that :s-smilie:

lol there's this one girl who always leaves halfway though a particular law lecture and in the end the lecturer got so pissed off he shouted "**** off then" and then carried on talking about house of lords reform.

Haha, I'm not surprised to be honest. It's one thing when people come in late, but to actually get up and leave while the person is talking? I've never seen anyone do that, I think most people realise how disrespectful it is.

Yeah. the most i've seen is people leaving early at the very first into lecture or to urgently take a phone call and come back in, leaving half way through a 45-50min lecture is rude.

lol, I'd just keep your head down and hope the lecturer stands up for themselves at some point.

Its amazing how they always seems to fall into one for three catagories:

1) Complete pushover. Everyone talks, turns up late, doesnt give a ****. Lecturer occasionally politely asks people to 'quiten down'
2) Cool guy. No-one talks because everyone likes him
3) Tyrant. Will anhilate you for drinking water in the lecture theatre. Everyone is too scared to talk.

I'm guessing this one is the first!

This particular lecturer is inbetween 1 and 2. He cracks too many jokes because he is insecure.
