Ooops, been neglecting this again.

Term ended yesterday. This term's basically been a write-off :emo: Not achieved anything. Having to get a doctor's letter to cover my lack of progress at my annual review (which is happening on 30th May) :s-smilie:

Supervisor being nice and reassuring about everything as always but it's hard

Massive :hugs:

Obviously your health (physical and mental) has to come first, but remember all the positive feedback from your supervisor. So if you still want to do it, I would keep at it (even if you do take a break)

Thank you. I just don't feel able to cope with anything atm :frown:

You can do this :penguinhug: take a break if you need to, but don't quit. You've come so far and you can do this. Give it a couple of weeks, see how things are once Easter is over and done with and then talk to your supervisor etc about where you're at :hugs:

Thank you. I wanna write an email to my supervisor but I've no idea what to say or how to articulate what I'm feeling. She's not on the continent atm either, which doesn't help :frown:

Could it wait until she gets back?

It probably can tbh. Though she wants me to email her a couple of times a week whilst she's away (she's away for a month), so that she knows how I'm doing... :s-smilie:

If she remembers previous years she knows this is a difficult time for you and she's always so understanding. I would suggest not making a decision now and see how you feel a couple or so weeks after Easter :hugs:

So things kinda came to a head recently, in that

TRIGGER WARNING FOR TALK OF SUICIDE

Spoiler

:frown:

As a result of this, my supervisor and I have (via email) had the conversation about whether to interrupt or not. We've mutually decided against interrupting the degree, but she is going to look into delaying my annual review due to the extenuating circumstances. She will also look into how to extend the PhD and/or do what she called a "backdated interruption". She's told me not to even think about work and to focus on getting back onto my feet

Can't even begin to imagine what you're going through, but I'm glad you're safe and that your supervisor is supportive. Take care of yourself; a PhD can wait, life comes before everything. I know it's not much at all, but big hugs :hugs:

Your supervisor is amazing and definitely the right person for you. She is right - you need to look after yourself as you aren't going to do anything decent work-wise until you feel better mentally. Glad you've made a decision and hopefully you feel well enough soon :hugs:

Skyped with supervisor today. Herself and the Department's Director of Graduate Studies (DoGS) want me to go ahead with my May progress review, unless it would prove detrimental to my mental health :frown: Not too happy about that but guess it's worth trying to see if I can do it on time with everyone else in my Department
