Hi, I am applying to study Law at Oxbridge, but am also interested in applying to Durham. However, I have heard that Durham react negatively to Oxbridge applicants. Is there any truth in this?

No, they'd never have any students at all if they were worried about people applying to Oxbridge (it's filled with Oxbridge rejects)

Nope, most people at Durham applied to Oxbridge, I was told that rumour (also was told the same for Warwick and Bristol) and I got offers from all of them. There are a lot of people who were rejected by Oxbridge, but it's not just filled with miserable bitter Oxbridge rejects as some would have you believe - in fact I've never met anyone who was truly bitter about it and know several people who chose it over offers from Oxbridge

No, this is untrue. I asked one of the admissions staff this question during the open day last year and they said it was a completely unfounded rumour. The sentiments which all the other posters made are correct; Durham is full of Oxbridge rejects and it would make no sense whatsoever for the admissions team to exclude all Oxbridge applicants from consideration.

No! Lots of Durham students are Oxbridge rejects.
