So speeding makes you a **** driver ?
Not necessarily - just that you have cornering and braking warnings and take the speed limit as the most you can get away with rather than what's safe.

I assume you're a fairly new driver otherwise you wouldn't be stuck with a black box, so not only are you breaking and cornering badly but you also likely have **** all experience.

I'm fully open to being wrong, but I can only go by the evidence you've provided...

Lol relax I have only had 2 cornering I'm my entire policy which is currently 9 months in. I had one harsh braking which i could not control due someone pulling out in front of me. And as for speeding I have zero over the entire policy

Hi all

I'm currently being driven to distraction by my HastingsDirect black box (no pun intended). I've had it for about two months since I got a car. A few days ago I received an email and text saying that unless my score improved, my policy would be cancelled on Wednesday. I am stressing like crazy over this.

Currently my rankings are:

Average: 17/100 (and refusing to budge, no matter how much good driving I do)

Time of day: 1/100 despite the fact that according to their own stats, 87% of my driving is done between 5 AM - 10 PM. How does that equate to a score of 1?!?!

Braking: 12/100 - this is insane, I am NOT braking harshly 88% of the time. My little car wouldn't physically be able to handle it.

Speed: 18/100 - this is the one factor I could possibly accept, but not to this low level! I have (especially when I first got my car) driven fast. But nothing crazy, and certainly not enough to justify these kind of scores.

Acceleration: 58/100 - seems reasonable.

Could someone advise what my options are please? I'm having an absolute stress. I called them up the day after I got the email and the guy on the phone was all "oh don't worry, just drive more carefully over the next few days and the average will start going up, five days is enough time" - but it isn't! I've been doing loads of extra driving, respecting all the speed limits, not going out after 10 PM, etc but my score still won't budge.

What can I do?
Luckily for me, Tesco Bank Box doesn't really care, like at all. Never gotten a text, email or anything from then and I get some bonus miles depending on how I drive (normally I get 0 LOL). I feel blessed to have Tesco as my black box insurer since they just don't seem to care as long as I insure with them and they always have been the cheapest over the last 2 years.

Seem like you got the small end of the stick

Make a new thread and ask or call your insurer, this post is from 2015.

I am also on a black box from insurethebox.com.I was also having the same problems.I put a camera inside of my car that records my driving it also points on my speedometer to prove my speed etc.I had had red marks against me and was told my insurance was being cancled due to bad driving.I replied to the email saying I have footage of my driving that points on to my Speedometer me and the road ahead. The following month I had been given 100 bonus miles and every month since my driving has been excellent.Just goes to show if you have proof they can't mess you about as you have video proof.I highly recommend getting a dash cam set up in your car if you have a blackbox as see so many complaints online saying blackbox company's lying just to get more money

I'm getting near perfect scores on both acceleration/braking and speed but type of roads brings it down to a total of 70/100.. I don't get why? I only drive to work and back every day and there's only one route I can take without wasting fuel.. why should I be penalised for driving on non motorways etc when there's none between my house and work..

I have had a black box for almost 6 months and it has been somewhat of a nightmare. I mean, my score has improved now, but it is still stinging me for acceleration and braking, which I find outrageous because I really don't accelerate or brake heavily at all. I am truly driving very carefully to the point where it pisses other road users off. It's so bad...
