Your body needs a certain percentage of essential bodyfat in order to function correctly and give you enough energy to get through the day. Getting to such a tiny dress size is going to stop your body working properly, which will effect you in countless ways.

You'll turn into Maris Crane from Frasier. And she has problems.

Never mind studying and all that crap, you could die surely?

Well, this is very true - you could die. Quite a few catwalk models have seen this fate recently.

I suppose I was being optimistic!

I'll bet this gets locked as people start to give hints on how to hide EDs and things.

To the OP, why you'd want to look like a stick is beyond me - there's a reason why Size 0 is in the news, and thats because even the professionals think it is too skinny, even for slim girls.

If you can be a size 8 and eat what you want, then please, for godssakes be one of those annoying skinny bitches who sits and eats an enormous burger/cake/etc in front of some poor overweight girl who's on a celery stick a day. THAT sounds like fun :p: - starving yourself doesn't.

Everybody has different views on the matter though. And actually, the reason why size zero is in the news is because some professionals etc are concerned about the ppl that have died from being that size and have an eating disorder or crack habit to boot for that. But what ppl don't seem so concerned about or take into account with this debate, is that ppl die from being an extremely large size too and from the ED of binge eating. Yet most ppl seem to think that it's such an insult to call some one fat or obese but not to call someone skinny. The fact is that being slim is desirable and can be healthy whereas being a fat blob isn't. They just can't take it and I don't see why slimmer ppl should have to put up with pleasing larger ppl's egos and self-esteems as that already happens in up sizing of clothes. Size zero is also in the news alot and getting alot of bad press because both America and Britain as nations have a general trend of getting bigger and bigger, or more "curvy", with obesity calls. Hence more ppl become jealous because they're not naturally like that or could never be like that and it makes them feel insecure. In reality, it's only the minority of those that are size zeros that have eating disorders or drug habits, and are influenced by what they see in trashy magazines, the medias subjective slaughtering comments, or in fashion. But the press would let you believe otherwise just like the BNP would lead you yo believe that most immigration to this country is to our disadvantage when in fact it isn't.

You're probably just growing, women's bodies get fuller like that as they get older. Just accept it.

How tall are you? Also if you are going to be doing Biology at Cambridge, I can only assume you are an intelligent girl and hopefully will realise that being a 'size zero' is not really a healthy plan unless youre not very tall.

Pfffft - there's a major difference between slim and skeletal.

Size 8 is slim. Size 4, unless clearly natural (which is very rare), is not healthy. End of.

(Some of) the press are critical of all this size zero malarky. As are the fashion shows. Milan for one have banned models with a BMI of under 18 for the reason that those models are likely not to be healthy.

Are people talking about American size zero or British? I think quite a few people who try to lose lots of weight are stupid enough to think they're the same and that being a size zero in British dress sizes is possible and fashionable...

I want to be a size -2.

Well I think there should be minus numbered sizes in American sizes. I mean they go up to utterly huge sizes such as 28+ over there so if you're going to cater for the really big then you should cater for the really slim too.

Don't get me started on this under 18 BMI model malarkey. It's a disgrace. And just because you haven't seen anyone healthy that size doesn't mean that there are those out there that aren't healthy at that size!

i can understand peopl thinking the concept of it is wrng, but its not as if im trying to loose alot of weight in a very short time.

where does the boundry lie between what is safe and whats not?

Size 8/10 is thin enough, any thinner would be unsafe. for someone who is supposed to be intelligent you really should be able to figure out these things.

In America there is a size -2 now. And that is bloomin' stupid. I reiterate, what you're pushing for isn't slim.

If you don't like your shape it isn't weight loss you're after, it being better toned.
