Law relies on precedent. Precedent is a historical discourse. Therefore Law is History and History is Law.

In conclusion, History pwns Law.

:yep:

More proof that philosophy is daft, btw.

Precedent is extant, not historical. Ergo, History is pwnd.

I've never flown :frown:

Me either.

Milady - there's a book by alan carr (not that ridiculous 'comedian' sunday night project bloke) which is supposed to be cheesy and ****e but pretty effective at changing your attitute towards flying - my brother is worse than me but seems a bit less terrified after reading it. If you can make it to a bookshop before you go, it might be worth a bash.

Whether it still exists or not is irrelevant; the fact remains that legal discourse produced in the past is historical.

Resistance is futile.

It doesn't actually rely on them per se :p:

How un-Marxist of you. :p:

The best thing about flying is seeing the UK or other countries from the air and playing a mental game of geography with yourself. Picking out the towns and cities as you go. The most interesting feature I noticed was travelling back from North America where enclosure is largely absent and the landscape much more 'natural' as compared to Europe where the land is patchworked like a quilt. It's like seeing the agricultural revolution spread out before you. Quite spectacular.

Oh contraire, I always thought the Borg notion of a collective consciousness was entirely consistent with the collectivist principles of Marxism.

It's probably why they're presented as evil by the Americans.

Who would win in Borg v Cybermen? Would the Borg assimmilate the Cybermen, or would the Cybermen upgrade the Borg?

I've nearly seen a crocodile. But I didn't. That was my most exciting moment.

I have. There's a crocodile farm near Orange in France. It's very very strange indeed. Right by a massive power plant. We left shortly after arriving and realising that most crocodiles look identical to one another and are a long way away from the spectators.

The Borg would adapt to the Cybermen and their weaponry. I guess the Borg would therefore be in a position to assimilate the Cybermen. None of the Dr Who baddies have the same ability to adapt - save perhaps the Master and the Monk timelord from the William Hartnell era.

The airfield at Cape Canaveral has its own alligator (or is it a crocodile?). They keep a check on which storm drain it is sitting in each day and if they have to make you park near it, they send out an armed guard so you don't get chomped as you get off the aircraft

Fair point. I remember reading The Reification of the Class Consciousness of the Proletariat when I was 15. I was such a cool teenager.
