First of all start by making a CV, you can find lots of good templates on the internet and there's websites that basically show you everything to do in order to make your CV stand out, maybe you could also ask your careers advisor in school to help you?

Once you have a CV your best bet is to print it off and go round shops and hand it in (that's what I did when I was 16). A lot of stores will now hire online instead of through CVs in store though, so you could just google 'high street shops' then go on the website of each, scroll down to the very bottom and you will see a tab on most store websites that says 'careers', click on that and it should tell you if there are any vacancies available in your area

Most high street shops are more than willing to take on 16 year olds, I got my first job in a shop at that age and it was great.

Find out how various places hire. Most are done online. Some vacancies will be advertised in store in which case you need to go in. Very few places actually want CVs, they mostly have their own application forms in my experience.
