I went to college when I was 19, so I didn't know anyone there and was 3 years older.

I wouldn't worry. I'm not a terribly social person and I still managed to have loads of friends. If anything, being away from people I knew helped that - it meant old groups wouldn't distract me from talking to other people.

I started at the same time as one other friend from school. We only had one class together and soon made friends with others though we did still meet at lunch. She then dropped out in December so I had to find other companions, which I did quite easily.

Don't worry too much or overthink things. There will be others in the same boat and its nothing like school - I am really quiet and shy but have to say college was great!

    Enjoy

I went to a sixth form and I knew one other person and was friendly with her, but we were not friends and barely knew each other. Honestly, I just chose a few groups of people and sat with them and talked (especially if they were in my classes). Thankfully this was the first year of my sixth form so it was small and we all became reasonably friendly with each other. I became friends with the people in my frees really quickly and others not long after (once I'd stopped hiding from them )
Honestly, don't worry! Just be yourself and talk to people, most people are much more mature at sixth form/college and therefore a lot nicer. Most classes will be doing ice breakers to start with anyway (oh god how I hate those)
