should i be bothered or not?

im a 16/17 year old girl, and ive just recently had surgery on my nose- i had multiple fractures and totally smashed my nose to one side. this happened years ago but ive only managed to get it fixed now.

well im off 6th form all week to recover. but ive found out that certain ppl know abt my surgery and are percieving it as a nose job...
i found out that this one popular girl laughed at it.
its straight now... but im worried itll be the talk of the school i mean a nose job isnt that common in teens is it?

im just worried abt gossip....

also im really sensitive abt my nose as i was bullied abt it..

There isn't really much you can do. If you went to school when it was smashed up I'm fairly sure they'll realise why you did it. Just tell the truth.

Just keep telling yourself that you'll be off to uni soon where nobody has to know you had even fractured your nose in the first place if you don't fancy. Girls are catty and prone to gossip - what can I say, our gender, it's got to have some flaws, no? They'll find something new to attack in afew days. Lay low and set the record straight should anyone confront you on it, but otherwise brush it off. In afew years I doubt you'll even remember this "popular girl"'s name, let alone still be stressing over her comments. And for the record? I'm glad your surgery was a success

If you feel better in yourself, then thats what really matters. People are naturally bitchy, and will pick on you for any reason. Its a regrettable fact of life. The people who are worthwhile surrounding yourself with are the ones who will understand why you had it done, and be happy for you. Heed little mermaid's advice (beacause its very good advice), and bear in mind that it will probably blow over in a few days, but you will feel good about it for a long time.

If the 'popular girl' says anything to you about it personally, you could always ask if she's upset because she can't afford to have the nose job she so desperately needs. Other than that I wouldn't worry, people are unlikely to care whether it was a cosmetic nose job or not, chances are they'll just be curious about it.

technically you havent had a nose job, you jus got it fixed bcoz of where you broke it. If anyone gives you hassle about it....break there nose and see how they like it! but maybe you shouldnt go with that..thats more something i would do. Anyway 6th form is almost finished so a few more months, then summer holz, and then uni:smile:

If anyone says anything to you just tell them the truth and explain that it isn't a nose job, it was reconstructive surgery. They can't argue with that! I know it can be upsetting but don't let it get to you, it's not worth it. At the end of the day, you know the truth and thats the main thing. If they want to believe the silly rumours that are going around then let them, it says a lot about them if they buy into gossip like that.
