What should I do?

OK, feeling a little down in the dumps today. Not really in the mood to see people but know that if I sit in my room alone all night I will just end up feeling worse.

I have been asked by two different people to go to the 80s disco/party that is on in the pub at halls tonight. Said no and I know one o my mates was quite disappointed. But I know that if I go I will end up drinking too much again and spending money I don't have. Drank far too much last night and made a fool out of myself on msn and the phone.

What should I do?

I think you should go out to the 80s disco/party thing with your friends, tell them you changed your mind and want to go after all. Ask them to make sure you don't drink a lot, no more than a 2 or 3 at most, and maybe even don't take much money with you so you can't drink much even if you want to.
Even though you don't feel like seeing people, it's better to go out than to stay in your room brooding.

maybe you could go somewhere you arnt going to be tempted to drink too much, so you are out enjoying yourself but know you arnt going to make a fool of yourself by over drinking. you could just go to the party but not take any money with you, or enough for a couple of drinks. the longer you stay in your room the worse you will feel and the more depressed you will get. you could also try talking to someone about how you feel, dunno if it will help or not. just get out there and enjoy yourself!! lifes too short to spend it feeling sorry for yourself!!

Yeah, I agree, life is too short, and this is not really like me. I know that once I have a few drinks and get in the mood I will end up drunk. If I don't take a lot of cash then people will buy me drink or there is a cash machine in the same building (also the bar is just a minute away from my room).

Oooh I feel your pain! :frown: I'm in a mood today. One minute I'm all happy, the next minute I feel rubbish. I hate it when people tell me to go out & cheer myself up when I'm in a mood because the last thing you want to do is go out, drink & make yourself even more depressed. However, there is a possibility that you will go out & enjoy yourself & cheer up.

You have two options:

1. Go out, drink in moderation & try & enjoy yourself. You can always leave early if you don't feel upto it.

2. Stay in, watch a feel good movie, order a takeaway.
