To wear makeup or not to wear makeup? watch

Without make up - I still get told I look acceptable but I have to be honest that I don't really get too many second glances. If I don't wear make up I get told I that I should make an effort, be more feminine, wear a smoky eye like X celebrity, and that I look dull and boring.

With makeup - even with just mineral foundation, eyeliner and mascara - I catch quite a few stares. Guys who weren't at first interested light up and want to get to know me better, and all of a sudden want to help me with things. I get treated better by cashiers and other customer service persons. However I then get the message that I'm being fake, that I look like a wh*re, that it somehow makes me untrustworthy, I must be insecure etc. And yes I have had these comments from other women and not just men so please don't make this into a gender war.

I'm not sure how I'm meant to win this game to be honest. I do wear makeup most days as I like putting a bit of effort in and looking girly and that's what makes me feel happy but I can't help but feel like an imposter when someone brings me down for it.

I'm currently thinking of starting to date in order to find a partner. Of course attraction is more than just looks but on this particular topic I don't know whether to wear makeup or not on dates etc. I feel like no make up = not pretty enough. And make up = fake slut. Then again I suppose if a guy were to think those things he would not be the one for me.

What should I do? Or should I just work out a way to not care?

    Option B.
So you think I should wear makeup rather than bare face on a date? Can I ask why if you don't mind?

option B, as in, "work out a way to not care".If pressed, I would say the less makeup the better. A little light eyeliner is generally more than enough.

Is there a way to do minimal make-up? So basically enough to make you look a bit fancier but not enough to be fully noticed (at least by most guys)? I think that would be the best option!
