I want to purchase a laptop preferably within the £200-£500 range.

The main thing i look for is that it is suitable for work purposes, portable so 14 inches, i3 or i5 processor as i will be prgramming, not sure if i3 will be ok though.

I've been looking as well. Some say Mac's are good book I think they're a little pricey. I've recently seen the Lenovo YOGA 500 which comes in 14" which an i7 processor, touchscreen and keyboard, 8GB RAM and its cheap. But the battery life has been noted in the reviews to be poor and I'm guessing other complains will surface just like any laptop.
