Off the drugs and booze. Daunting weekend.

Long story short, after a fair few problems with these in recent times, especially the last year and the past weekend which resulted in an epiphany of sorts, I'm making yet another clean break. The weekend is approaching and the concept of not getting off my face on whatever's available is very daunting. Several social options await me, almost all of which involve being around people who are most likely to be completely bladdered, and I don't know how I'll be able to get through it.
It sounds very petty and small, but for me to get through the weekend cleanly would be a great achievement.

Can anyone give me any advice on how to tackle this, things to think about or things to keep myself occupied if it all goes to hell..?

Sorry to ask here, but it seems the only place where I will hopefully get an unbiased, useful opinion.

Thanks.

What if you take a friend who will not do drugs and drink with you for moral support?

I've been in a similar situation. The best way is just to repeat the commitment not to do it in your head and make it a matter of personal pride.

A lack of willpower is just an excuse for the weak. If you sincerely want to avoid something, then it's perfectly possible to do so.

Good luck etc.

Stay in this weekend maybe?

No don't stay in, I think the point is you've got to go out and consciously not take anything.

To be honest, you may have to end up changing your circle of friends. If they're all going to be out till 7 the next morning off their faces, you being sober is not going to be the best experience/much fun.

If you still want to go out and have fun on big nights then I think that you need to go to things that you're genuinely really interested in and not something you just went to because drugs/drinking went well with it if that makes sense. Find a genre of music you love perhaps. Then you wont need anything to make the night good. Works for me anyway these days
