Hello, I have been debating whether to do Ancient or traditional History for some time now. One major thing stopping me however from picking Ancient for sure is career prospects? I understand that, as the course is "specific" it will likely limit my prospects but not too badly. I aspired to be a history teacher (most likely lecturer now) and the classical side of history is one that has always interested me. However, if the career prospects with Ancient aren't too good....

I'd say as long as you go to a good enough Uni and get a good enough grade then I don't think Ancient History will be treated any differently. If not there's always the possibility you can do History as a major and Ancient History as a minor or do a joint honours in both. Investigate these when you are looking at Unis to see what they can offer
