Haemochromatosis

Firstly, does anyone know anything about this?

A link to a page about it is here.

Basically, I have some of the symptoms (permanent bronzing - although not everywhere (?), chronic fatigue, irregular heartbeat, abdominal pains, loss of sex drive - sounds like a lot but there are many) but they can all quite easily be explained by other causes. e.g. I am chronically fatigued, but that could be something to do with my sleep pattern (normally 3/4am - 12pm, and I keep getting woken up).

I am not sure whether to request a diagnosis, mainly because I want to join the army / NHS services and I am not sure whether or not this is a barrier for entry (if it is, then I would have a much more difficult decision to make about a diagnosis).

Plus, I am not sure if I am just being one of those people who reads up on symptoms and applies them all to themselves even though there are plenty of other more likely reasons for the causes. The reason I am posting this here is just so people can externally read my symptoms and decide whether or not I am worrying over nothing.

Chances are I will get a diagnosis anyway, but I just wanted to know what people felt about the above situation, and also what they would do in my position? Ta

First of all, your health is far more important than any job, so don't let any barrier to entry put you off getting checked out. Secondly, if it's a treatable condition that won't put others at risk, I don't see why it would be a barrier. Definately go to your GP and get checked out. Even if you don't have this condition, it's worht it to get your symptoms sorted!
