I was sent my school shopping list and purchasing these items cost me £81 since I didn't cheap out. I'm studying an art-based course and had to buy many sketchbooks, paints etc and I died a little inside when I saw the total.

That sounds about right for an arts based subject.

Personally I try to get out of buying anything. I'm a graphic designer so I can get away with doing lots of stuff on the computer. I spent about £50 a year on sketchbooks and tools for 1st and 2nd year. 3rd Year we get to choose what we do so I'm leaning towards digital design.

    Like £50?

I found out my second year accomodation doesn't have basics like ironing equipment, so I had to buy that (£40)
Everything else was about £10 overall

I've spent about £30 so far but I still need to buy printer ink which is pretty expensive and some other little bits.
