Being made redundant! Its not fair!

Ok so before xmas I knew that my job could come to an end because there might not have been any funding. The just before xmas they gave us papers to say yes there was funding and I had a job untill 2008. But in the last 2 days they have come to us and told us actually no there is not enough funding and I will be finishing on march 31, so they have me 1 months notice... How is it fair that they gave me a written contract and then withdrew it and hows it fair when they were giving me 3 months notice and now its suddenly only 1, how am I going to get a job in 1 month when I am still expected to work. They are not giving me redundancy pay as i have only been there 10 months!!!

Help any advice!

It's not fair but you can't doing anything about it really. At least you still have a month to find another job, 3 months could actually be more awkward if you find a job in the first week or something.

Help any advice!

Speak to your union - if you aren't a member then join.

If there isn't a union then contact the citizens advice bureaux...take along all the letters and your contract.

Do you work for a charity? If you do, unfortunately these things happen, it all depends on whether or not there is funding available to cover your post. I work for a charity and have been there 3 years without any problems although my contract came to an end a few weeks ago and I was worried I would lose my job....luckily I didnt as there was enough funding left over.

Its not fair I know but I dont think theres much you can do, especially if it is a charity that you work for.
