It's 76. This sort of question is designed to be one where you try every individual option given and then work out the answer as a process of elimination.

9^2=81
81-5=76

what I did to work it out was add 5 to each of the answers, and then I straight away recognized 81 as being a square number. It really helps if you learn the first 12 or so square numbers especially for Alevel :smile:

Have you got it now from the help given by the other posters?

There's nothing subtle going on in this question - it really is just a question of adding 5 to each of the numbers until you get one you recognize as being a square.
