Being Straight Edge/Tee-Total at Uni

I don't think I've met a Uni student yet who doesn't smoke, drink, dabble in recreational drugs.

For those who don't - are you out there?

How easy is it to get a long with the others? Do they try peer pressure?

I'm hoping to have the most fun at Uni, and do so continuing my lifestyle of staying 'clean'.

p.s. This isn't a thread discussing why I chose to live my life this way! Anyone who cares to argue, or is just interested - hit me a PM!

I didn't smoke or take drugs at univ and I stopped drinking about half way through the term.

I've never had a cigarette or touched drugs and I am embarrassed to admit I haven't been drunk since before this term started. But that's not really by choice...

These I've never done for the entirety of my life. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. You say this as if it's hip, or cool to do them?!

yes we are there! nah, i don't do any of that stuff, any my friends drink but don't excessively and don't do drugs --- i guess it depends who you make friends with

I smoke, yes... but I don't drink or do drugs. Its just normal.. :dontknow:

No I only meant the getting drunk thing. Come on it's nothing to do with being cool, it's just really sad to admit that my degree has destroyed all semblance of a social life.

I didn't know it was specific to certain Uni's?

Should I erase the stereotypical student life from my brain? I was always under the impression Uni was for partying hard, studying hard, and living poorly! :biggrin:

well i've never smoked a cigarrete and don't really like drinking, although i will have the odd drink now and then i never get drunk when i go out. I smoke a bit of weed but not much, and have never taken any drugs. It's not really an issue, tbh i don't think most people even notice that i'm sipping orange juice when we're clubbing, they just assume there's vodka in with it! i have a good time so no one thinks i'm boring.

I've never been drunk although I've had the odd drink, I don't smoke or do drugs. Doesn't make me any less social at uni, I just do different things than going out and getting pissed :smile:

I have never smoked or taken drugs and I rarely drink -I have never been drunk. I am in my first year at uni and it's not a problem. I have found that there is a much greater tolerance when you get to uni, in comparison to 6th Form, of different idividuals and there is always someone to talk to/ socialise with and you're never short of anything to do, whatever your tastes! I was quite worried before I started uni because everyone said I'd be drunk on the first night etc, but it's really not like that so there's no need for worrying :smile:
