I'm starting mech eng in a couple of weeks, but the list they've given me for textbooks is 3 pages!! :O

They've listed 'core texts,' 'optional texts,' and 'recommended reading.' I was planning on just getting the core texts before uni, but there's still 5 to buy, and they only seem to be available from Amazon for about £40 each!!

It does say on the letter than I 'may wish to wait until you have heard what the lecturer has to say at the start of the module before you buy'

So anyone who has done mech eng 1st year (Birmingham), which textbooks did you actually use?? And do I need any before uni?

I understand that this is an old thread, but I am in the same situation currently. I would really appreciate it if you could share what you chose to do in the end.
