Public displays of affection (PDA)

Is it right/wrong? Do you do it? Are you comfortable with doing it? Discuss!

With my boyfriend holding hands is as far as it gets... today I asked him for a kiss (as in a little peck on the lips and cuddle, as I'd been feeling a bit down and wanted some affection) and he just looked at me in an awkward way. There was a bit of silence, then I changed the subject.
This makes me feel a bit unloved. I know he loves me... he just isn't comfortable with anything in public. It gets me down for a while every now and then, just because it's like when we're out with friends we don't always look like a couple.

The only time I get PDA is when he's drunk, and it's because he's losing his inhibitions, which hurts me a bit.

Hence, I found myself interested in other peoples perceptions on public displays of affection.

I dont have a problem with it, a kiss and cuddle is fine but full on groping and snogging is way more than i want to do/see!!

Although in clubs, pretty much whatever is fine. I'm normally too drunk to care what other people are doing and just want to have a good time myself.

A hug or whatever or holding hands fiiiine but in the day/a normal situation, i.e not a club then its a bit errrm is that needed..I have friends who are all over each over while I'm eating my lunch yah know...

I would say keep PDA to a min if you want your mates to be happy lol

i see nothing wrong with them, my boyfriend and i hold hands, hug and kiss in public and see no problem with it
obviously thinks like hands in specific places isn't really something that should be done in public
It's horrible for everyone else. There's nothing worse that walking past a couple eating each others faces in public. Also, it's likely to cause offence to young children or the elderly.
So keep displays of affection private please!
As with alot, there comes a point when a line is crossed....

Holding hands and hugging is fine, but I'm not too comfortable with kissing in public. A peck on the lips is okay, but I don't really like the idea of standing and kissing for everyone to see. It makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. Not altogether sure why!
Euh!

Definitely not!! Holding hands is as far as it goes guys!!!

I disagree, there is nothing wrong with kissing in public!

I think its cute but come on guys there is a limit, i.e. full on kissing in public
Ha, me and my boyfriend don't even hold hands in public. We sooo don't look like a couple or anything!
Holding hands is fine. With kissing it depends. Full on snogging is just not on, but a quick peck I think would be fine. And I don't see what is wrong with a cuddle either, as long as you aren't sat intertwined for hours or being too overenthusiastic.

Do you make him wear a dog lead instead :P
'PDA'

Whatever next? So when i next tell my parents i need to take a toilet break when we're having a meal, instead of "I'm just going for a slash", i instead abbreviate it to...

IJGFAS.

Or...

IJGTLAF (I'm just going to leave a floater)...

Yeah, good one. Because that way, everyone's just totally going to know exactly what i mean....

My boyfriend was the same in the early days of our relationship. I knew it was because of shyness but it still upset me. I always used to initiate it, and eventually he started to do it himself. How long have you been going out for? Perhaps like my boyfriend he needed time to get used to doing stuff like that. Are you his first gf?
