If my offer is A*AA for English, would A*A*B be an acceptable alternative if the B was Biology?

I can get As in my Biology exams, just not in my ISAs...

    Thanks.

It would depend on the university. I have heard some university, such as Southamptob to say that they allow dropped grades in place of another A*, but other unis may not be so forgiving!

That entirely depends on whether the university has set a baseline of nothing below an A across the board, which A*A*B does not meet. Ask them before applying. They may or may not be flexible, but unless the offer is a points offer, the bottom line is that A*A*B does not equal A*AA. However irrelevant biology is to English, the fact is that English is an incredibly competitive subject and universities aren't in the position of having to be kind to anyone.

As others have said, it depends on the university. Some can be very strict with offers and the B could very well cost you a place.

It depends on the university. Exeter for example does, at least for some departments. They sent an email before results day saying that it's fine if you achieved the equivalent grades. But that will not always be the case for other universities where you may still get your offer if other students do achieve there grades.

A university may very well see A*A*B and A*AA as the same when you are applying i.e they give you A*A*B as your offer.

But even if you had to reapply with those grades it would most likely be fine, maybe even to the same place. And your would have time to bolster your application with work experience.
