    Hello everyone!

I am going to apply for DH&T this year, and have to narrow down my 5 uni choices. If anyone sees this and is currently studying at any of these:
    Kings
    Queen Mary
    Essex
    Portsmouth
    Newcastle
    Leeds

I'd like to ask you two q's. Firstly, is it as great as you expected it to be? and secondly, Do you do any type of cadaver/ observing surgery of the body other than the mouth?

My second question may seem a bit strange, however one of the reasons I wont be applying to Dentistry is that I don't want to do cadaver on the deceased or even have to watch any sort of surgery on the body that they do in the Bds.

I appreciate any replies from current or past DH&T students!

    Many thanks!

I am not a dental and hygenist therapy student but I studied anatomy with them at Newcastle. (They had some dental only lectures which speech and language therapists did not attend, and we had lots of neurology lectures which they did not attend either). We had practicals in both semesters of year one where you could choose to 'interact' with cadavers. I am not sure if their had anything on top of this regarding oral surgery though. If you do not want to touch anything then you do not have to. No one forces you to do anything.

Thanks for your reply! I appreciate the info, quite relieving to know they dont push students into doing cadaver.
