So I've been looking at an engineering course at Imperial which says it requires the grades A*AA. My predicted grades are A*AB, so I was just wondering what their record for taking on students below what they ask for is like...? I am aware they are a prestigious university and there may be no leeway at all, but thought it was worth an ask!

They may sometimes make an offer to someone with slightly lower predicted grades, but the offer would still be their standard offer, and if you don't meet it on results day then they are likely to reject you.

That being said, for A level results this year I did notice several cases of near misses still getting accepted. These things change every year and can be hard to predict. It just depends on how well other people do.
