    Some of the most "popular" people I know at school have about 5 to 20 likes on things whereas people who are a lot more quiet have about 30 to 50. Its not necessarily the more attractive people though girls have a lot more likes.

    Do Facebook likes really show much?

    If by popular you mean a bunch of no name nobodies who added you as a friend to increase their friend count then yes.

    Facebook is a cesspool and I can't stand being on there for more than a minute or two.

    Don't get me wrong it has its uses but even so, going down a feed just makes cringe a lot of the time.

    This is the key.

    More friends -> more likes.

    Though some people are actually insanely popular and just know a lot of people.

    Most of the time, that isn't the case.

    It's not that safe IMO

    My sister goes to tons of gigs and stuff and meets random guys and the next day their comments on her profile pics are all on her feed, I mean they probably arent serial killers if theyre on FB lol but they just seem thirsty :eek:

    Some of the people I know with only about 300 or 400 friends have the most likes

    Girls seem to get more though esp. party girls

    like i said my sister gets a lot of likes. but i worry for her even though shes older than me lol. those guys she adds shes only met once

    Yeah.

    Another factor is simple whether your facebook friends are actually active enough to even have the chance to like your photo..

    Oddly enough the people I know who are most "actively" socialising IRL don't even have the most "likes" though they have more friends than most

    Whereas the ones with no jobs or who are lazing around on gap years seem to always be commenting on FB etc.

    Also, if you get a photo done professionally you are bound to get more likes. Professional photos look pretty damn epic.
